How to Perform the 108 Potri Archana at Home
You do not need a grand temple setup to do this. A simple, sincere heart is enough. However, following a traditional method enhances the vibration.
- The Best Time – Tuesday mornings (during Hora) or evenings are ideal. The days of Karthigai stars and Sashti thithi are also highly auspicious.
- The Setup – Clean your altar. Place a picture or small idol of Lord Murugan (preferably with his Vel).
- The Offering (Archana) – This is the most important part. As you chant each of the 108 lines, offer a flower or a pinch of Kumkum (vermilion) or Vibhuti (holy ash) to the Lord. The Red Oleander (Arali) flower is Murugan’s favorite.
